With availability being so rubbish this week (and a last minute drop out), the ladies 3s went down to Cliftonville with a bare 11 players. The midfield line was made up of players that don't usually go anywhere near the midfield, one for fear of nosebleeds for being that high up the pitch! We soon settled into a rhythm and started to dominate the game.
Despite saying she was rubbish on her reverse, Parker scored a fabulous goal on her reverse and set up another. Her miss on goal of the game came on her strong side! Another 2 goals came before half time to put us 4-0 and in control of the game. However after giving away 2 cheap goals last week we didn't want to get complacent.
Goal number 5 was a contender for goal of the season. Playing as CM, Benchy decided she wanted to take the straight strike from the top of the D. It worked in spectacular fashion. The ball came to the top of the D, the step into the hit was perfect, the hit came off the stick like a bullet and hit a defender's stick and looped in the air. Time seemed to stand still as we all watched in disbelief as the ball looped over everyone, including the keeper and hit the top of the backboard for a goal, cue the celebrations!
Benchy tried to turn provider for Beth and put a beautiful pass for her to put in the goal but she gave some excuse about being pushed off the ball as to why she missed. She was fined for miss on goal though! Another goal went in before the final whistle leaving us 6-0 winners and glad we made the stupidly long journey to Ramsgate!
Congratulations to Georgia who put her fingers on the line to help us win and won player of the match.
