The sun shone in Sidcup, as well as Spain, for the visit of RTW. Without our talisman captain and also our midfield enforcer, how would we fare. Well, both were missed, but not too shabby really.
Ash played flowing hockey from the start and on the balance of play, deserved the TPB’s at the end.
PoM Wortherds once again showing a true poachers instinct to nab both goals.
Every week I say I could mention every player, so this week, I will.
George has been a star in goal all season, and this has been conveyed to t’Selection Committee at every chance. Members came to see for themselves today and only this team could choose this game to not allow a single shot. Which was in main due to the defence, Clench, Cluett, Redman, Hickson, Hendry and Wells were all outstanding, rock solid, fierce tackles and great distribution.
This allowed the midfield some room to play, about the size of a banqueting hall, and Ward-Hawes-Gatt, Hurst, Herridge, Hickson and Cluett ran amok. Up front, Charlie managed to poach the four goals he needed to overtake Steve for the season and obviously felt a bit sorry for the old boy, so obviously missed a stoppage time penalty to save awkward silences over Sunday lunch. Obviously, just in case I didn’t make that clear.
There was great hockey, great team spirit, great commitment and hopefully much fun too.
Thanks to Steve Course and Laurence Ball for umpiring.
