Blaster Billane’s brace beats battling blues

Winning in this league is hard enough, it’s packed full of good players and teams. However, on a vital Saturday, the 4’s were decimated before a physical assault had even been launched. Two players down to illness, losing midfield general Rudduck to flu and skipper Hendry to sick of English winter, the team was further rocked when Wells and Parker were both dropped to the 3rd team. Undeterred and harking back to the days when a sub was a luxury, Ash went ahead with the bare 12. To clarify, we know it’s 11 a side and also how to get dressed, it’s a phrase, get over yourself.
Having exacted revenge last week on a team that had the audacity to take points off us, revenge was again on the menu, although it was to be served at room temperature.
Ash dominated the game, from start to finish, front to back, but just couldn’t find the finishing touch to a sequence of fine moves that would have left Craig Revell Horwood panting, “fab-u-lous”.
PoM Billane finally took matters into his own hands, pushing all aside, he took two short corners in quick succession, despatching them both home. Into the corner, not straight down the middle.
The game was decided from there, Ash could have added to their score, but were well in control of the game.
On a serious note, I want to say how impressed I am with the way the team have performed these last few weeks, maturity, confidence, calmness, camaraderie, this bunch have got the lot.
