Callum. It’s Callum. Murphy. Callum Murphy. Son of Sue. Sue Murphy.

The garden of England, a sunny day, a good bunch of lads, what could possibly go wrong.
Well, for 35 minutes pretty much anything and everything. But what separates a good team from an ok team? Apart from talent, skill and application I mean. Playing below par and still finding a way to win, which is exactly what the team did today.
That’s all I have to say about the first half.
Ash came out in the second half ready for action and at times felt so in control that they decided to play with 10 men. A lot.
A slick corner routine saw the ball fired to Billane who produced a beautifully deft finish from close range. This was followed shortly after by a blistering counter attack that saw Billane fire the ball to Parker who calmly converted, 2-0.
However, there had been much talk before the game about cards and yellow cars, clearly confusing us, as we racked up a brace of yellow carDs.
The spirit the team showed to keep fighting, keep working, keep getting a stick in the way to grind out a result was exemplary. If the Venus de Milo is pretty hockey, then we were like a plasticine statue made by someone wearing a blindfold on a searingly hot day. But, another 1 in the W column and another 0 in the A column.
Special mention does need to be made of Callum Murphy, or Persil as we now call him, with his growing collection of clean sheets. He was mobile, fearless and showed a great understanding of the game and real skill in holding back the Balrog of Sevenoaks.
Champagne moment, several options this week, but my favourite, mainly because it involved me. “Connor, I am going to slip the ball to you, you will have loads of room, take your time, pick your spot and DON’T try anything fancy.” Ball gets slipped, Captain Caveman Connor winds up with Mjolnir and pulls off a spectacular air shot.
Did I ever mention the temporal loop anomaly in Terminator 2? I just keep going round in circles trying to work it out.
Thank you to skippy Hendo for organising us, to Sue, Sue, Rosie and the Herridges for their support.
