I think I may have out obtused even myself this week.

Got to love 21st century hockey, an away game that is closer to the club than some of our home games. And Avery Hill, so hotter than hot, who knew that SE9 had its own micro climate. BBHC 3s vs BAHC 4s, nee 5s. Simple.
I have to say again, to be serious for a moment, this is the 4th time we have met in the last few months, and the spirit between the teams has been excellent every time. This was a local derby and a league game and yet people were honest and respectful to each other, oppositions and umpires alike, a real credit to the hockey family.
So, to the game, if you haven’t flicked over to Facebook yet to check on Steve Redmans latest dad joke.
BBHC were determined, hard working and committed, but the 4swere5s got control of the game early doors, and didn’t really relinquish it until long after last orders. Despite losing skipper Hendry when his war wound flared up, the defence was accomplished, solid, dogged and resolute.
With Lush setting the standard, the 0 in the GA column made sense.
The midfield was blessed with riches and Tyler, Coxall and Wedderell all had influential games.
Up front, Connor was always dangerous, Wotherds work tirelessly and PoM Billane led the line all afternoon. Apart from when he ran into a brick wall and had to have a little lie down.
The truth of the day though was that this was the mis hit game. Had to re type that three times before I got into real trouble.
Let’s start at the beginning, the first goal, ball flying around like a cheap micro copter, came to Tyler who smashed it, with a thick top edge that looped up, just about defying gravity, and looped into the goal. Into the goal, ground level, no net or backboard.
Then we will skip over the second goal, move to the third when Connor wound up with his best beach cast, topped the ball, looped into the goal. Into the goal, ground level, no net or backboard. The fourth goal was pure class though, great build up led to Wotherds firing in a cross that Billane deftly turned into the net, the actual net, for his second. Or was it….
Suspense
The second goal caused all the controversy though, with no less than 4 players claiming it, Eugene, Smith, Billane and Wedderell.
Although, it was also a series of mis hits (phew) that went into the goal. Into the goal, ground level, no net or backboard.
I have spent the last hour at Stockley Park and after countless reviews, with no bias at all, and backed up by my own perfect sight of events from 40 yards away through a crowd of players, I have to unequivocally admit that the last telling touch was from Billane, 2 goal hero.
Great start to the season, onwards and upwards and that’s just the match reports.
If anyone works out what the picture means, please feel free to let me know.
