Sunshine, a squad packed full of power, skill and a plethora of midfielders, an opposition who had also had a tough year, all culminating in a fitting final result for a bunch that I have come to consider good friends.
Showing fast moving, intellectual hockey, arguably the best of the year, Ash looked comfortable and in control from the start. I should mention the goal scorers, but a) they are just a bunch of goal hanging pretty boys and b) my ethos has always been to never do what you should do. So, well played Callum Murphy who Persil’d again, to Michael Hurst (it must be serious if I have fore gone Groot), cool hand Luke Collins, the machine Steve Rudduck and the walking wounded, or wounderer ( I don’t care, it’s a great word) Chris Hammond who repelled K Sports all game long.
Yes, some of the others did their bit, ran around, checked their hair, updated their status and so on, but these were the rocks that our castle was built upon.
Thank you Gorgeorgeous for leading us this year and special huge thanks to Gary Streatfield, who has worked tirelessly, week in week out, to make sure we have a game.
It’s been emotional.
