Super scratch side sizzle in searing September sun

On a serious note, local rivalries are a great part of the hockey world. But pre season, scratch teams, ludicrous heat, it could be testy. However, both teams approached the game with a mature, friendly and sensible attitude that made the game what it should be, good fun. All involved were credits to their clubs and to our great game.

It’s hot, damn hot, real hot.
The heat outside is twice as hot as our suits can withstand. (always wondered why they didn’t just wear two)
It’s hotter than a rattlesnakes backside in a wagon rut.
Yep, hot, but the scratch team led by our shiny new skippy Hendo the wall, gelled really quickly. The heat probably helped as people wanted to pass rather than run with the ball.
I know Nick Cawsey scored two, Alan Peel got one, Matt Wotherds got at least one, Jack Knights might have got one if it didn’t come off of Matt on the way in, but for the life of me, can’t remember who got the other one. So in the spirit of fairness, it must have been me and therefore, it must have been a screamer.
It was fun, it was pre-season, it was a friendly and was friendly, if the season carries on as it’s started it’s going to be another good year.
