After the navigation debacle of our previous away game, the team whole team successfully made it to the pitch with over an hour to spare. With a number of debuts to ladies hockey this week, this gave us all enough time to get to know each others names and hit a few balls between us, with a nice long warm up before the match. It was always going to be an interesting game, with the fresh faces of Burnt Ash against Faversham, a team of experienced players a lot of who have been playing together for a number of years.

Despite a solid defence, Faversham managed to get a goal passed towards the start of the first half. With Burnt Ash ladies starting to get a feel of playing with a new line up, play became more joined up and the ball repeatedly made its way up towards the Faversham goal. But even with some fancy stick work, and putting the turn outs (and reverse turn outs!) everyone had been practicing in training to use, the Faversham defence presented a united front and we could not get the ball into the goal.

As the second half got underway, the Burnt Ash ladies managed to continue to drive the ball towards the Faversham goal. With a few more shots at the goal people started to get their aim in, with a couple finding their way just on the wrong side of the post. The came Kathy, with a prefect cross into the D from the right, finding Kates stick, who deflected the ball towards the goal and it straight passed the Faversham goal keeper. A special welcome and well done to Wendy, Kelly, Laura and Tilly who smashed their first game for the Ladies 6’s.
