Against a very high brow team, The Masters dominated the game throughout, but not for want of trying, only want of skill, they managed to keep letting the visitors back into the game. With Tim running midfield, Pete B leading the line, Colin marshalling the defence and Phil name dropping, there seemed no way that Ash could pluck defeat from the jaws of victory.
Handy Andy lived up to his nickname, with a masterful display of short corner finishing that resulted in a hat trick. But even that couldnt stave off the inevitable shoot out.
Originally planned as penalty shuffles, it was pointed out we only had another half an hour on the pitch, so strokes might be better. Which got some worried looks.
Up stepped our very own Famous Five, or Tim and the Diddy Men as the ladies thirds wanted them called, and with a faultless display, scored all 5 attempts. There was only one way we could win, and cometh the hour cometh the carpenter. Standing strong and tall and moving with grace of a feline, Bob defended his goal with literally his body, and saw us through to the next round. Away at Harrogate, first weekend in January, yeah, cheers lads.
Thanks to the appointed umpires and Jon Steel as our loyal supporter.
