Ash pressed early and were rewarded in the second minute when Alice Parker was able to tap in a wide shot on the far post. Ash retained much of the possession throughout the early phase of the game and Parker was able to squeeze another shot over the line in the tenth minute from a now familiar far post position. Despite the early lead, Ash did not let up and Sue Davies, Tash Nicholson and Laura Thomas moved the ball quickly in midfield , and Davies’s deflected strike found the back of the goal in the fifteenth minute. Ash has yet more possession and chances, and Parker was able to complete her hatrick and move the score to 4-0 thanks to an expertly placed cross from Thomas shortly before half time. Nic Blowey, who had gallantly volunteered to keep for a half, did not have to touch the ball.
The second half followed in a similar vein, with Ash almost constantly keeping the ball in the Cliftonville half, but were unable to capitalise on the numerous chance’s and short corners until Jo Rinn slotted one home with 6 minutes to go, cementing a great win for the team. The 4’s would like to dedicate their win to the ever-devoted Andrea Law, who would have been playing in goal has she not sustained such a horrible blow to the elbow in the previous game. Get well soon Andrea.
